Glim Notes
August Edition
Joy is one of those words that gets overcomplicated. It makes you feel like you’re supposed to be chasing something big or that your life should look different. Like you’re missing out or falling behind. It creates the idea that there’s something better somewhere else.
In reality, joy is simple. It’s anything that makes you feel good, not what’s supposed to make you feel good. Not what looks good online. Not what other people swear by. There’s no standard version. What works for someone else might do nothing for you, and that’s fine. Joy isn’t universal. It’s personal.
You decide what joy looks like in your life. You decide what’s worth your time, attention, and energy.
Small Daily Joys
The 1-2-3 Glim Method is a simple way to make sure you do at least one thing each day that brings you real joy. Life is short, and your time is limited. Use it on what matters to you.
1. One thing you can do today, just for yourself.
Sit for five minutes with your favourite drink and do nothing else
Take one minute alone to let your mind settle without a goal
Talk to someone who matters to you
Watch something that makes you laugh
2. One thing you’ve wanted to do lately but haven’t made time for.
Identify what it is. Then decide within two minutes that you’ll do it on your next day off.
3. One thing you’ve always wanted to do but keep putting off because it feels impossible.
Look at what’s blocking you. Maybe it’s money. Maybe it’s time. Maybe it’s energy. Name it. Then make a simple plan to do it within three months.
No one is going to do this for you. No one will schedule joy into your life. If something matters to you, you’re the one who has to make space for it.
Don’t wait for a better time.
Joy doesn’t show up after your life changes.
It’s not waiting for you to lose weight, achieve more, or move somewhere new.
Joy belongs to the version of you that exists right now.
The one you already are.
Waiting for the “right” time only delays your life.
You can create small moments of joy today, even if everything isn’t perfect.
Glim Plan goes deeper into The 1-2-3 Glimmer Method and how to use it to build a steadier, more intentional life.
Glim Notes: Diary
This month, I’ve been finalising the five latest books in The Glim System ahead of their 26 October release. Last week, I was so deep in edits that by midnight I found myself baking a berry cake just to step away for a moment. Re-publishing five books at once may not have been the best idea in hindsight.
See more from the diary.
