The Eliane Luella Monthly
April Edition
Spring comes with quieter pressure.
Not the loud “new year, new you” noise, but the subtle sense that you should be further along by now.
More settled. More certain. More together.
That pressure isn’t helpful.
Getting your life together isn’t seasonal.
It’s personal.
It works when you’re ready to make changes, not when a calendar says you should be done.
If you want to adjust something right now, keep it simple.
Clear structure.
Small steps you can repeat.
That’s what creates a life that actually fits.
REAL SELF-CARE
Real self-care starts with subtraction: remove one demand or expectation that no longer fits your life. That alone creates more clarity than any new routine.
It is maintenance. Small actions that keep your mind clear and your body steady. Nothing dramatic. Nothing to fix. You don’t need more effort. You need less noise.
Get morning light
Sit by a window or step outside for 3 minutes. No phone. No multitasking. Light helps your brain wake up and regulate.
Eat one meal without screens
Close the laptop. Put the phone away. Just eat. One task at a time reduces mental fatigue.
Tidy one neglected corner
Pick a small area you’ve been avoiding. A counter, a corner, a drawer. Order supports clarity.
One hour without input
Choose one hour this month with no screens and no audio. Give your mind a break from stimulation.
Track three small positives
At the end of the day, note three things that went right or felt okay.
Self Check-In
What has been draining my energy lately?
What is one small adjustment I can make this month to reduce it by 1 percent?
Self-care isn’t about becoming a different person.
It is about living in a way that works.
Tiny Glims
Some periods feel heavier than others.
Energy dips. Motivation thins. Things take more effort.
This is common.
It isn’t a personal failure.
I didn’t look forward to those periods.
They dragged my mood down and made everything feel heavier.
If this month feels off for you, take it seriously. Call your doctor. Book an appointment. There is still a lot of stigma around depression, and most of it is outdated. I heard a public figure claim that mild depression is “not a big deal.” The same person would never say that about irritable bowel syndrome or a migraine. Depression, even mild, is an illness. You address it the same way you address any other health issue: directly and without shame.
When things were low for me, I simplified my life. I ringfenced my time, got clear on what mattered, and cut out anything that drained me. I learned what kept me steady and what made things worse. None of this was a fix. It was basic maintenance.
This is not a prescription. It is what helped me get my life back into a workable place.
You can ringfence your life by clarifying:
Your purpose: the reason you are here
Your why: the reason you get up in the morning
Your backup plan: the fallback if progress slows
Your joy list: what actually makes you happy
Your people: the small group you trust
Your long-term goals: the things you want to build
When you combine medical advice from a qualified professional with a clear structure, a solid network, and habits that keep your life manageable, you put yourself in a stronger position.
April doesn’t have to be a month you endure.
It can be the month you build a life that fits you.
Behind the Scenes
Lately, I’ve been easing back into a more balanced routine: better food and more movement. I don’t diet. Dieting just leads to overeating. Instead, I’m keeping things simple by adding more fruit and vegetables to what I already eat. It’s a steady way to stay balanced without crash dieting.
